EVCo launches Singapore’s first and largest community ride-sharing initiative for commercial vehicles

EVCo is proud to announce the collaboration with Singapore’s SME community to launch Singapore’s first and largest community ride-sharing initiative for commercial vehicles.

Targeted at SMEs and independent last-mile service providers, the programme gives drivers access to fully electric light goods vans at affordable rates, without the need to charge the vehicles during and after use.

With a plan of a phased roll-out of a 2000-strong fleet – 550 of which will be operational from January 2023 – the programme is primed to make significant impact in both EV adoption and substantial cost and time savings for businesses and delivery drivers.

Users can pick up a van at any one of 20 clusters islandwide, and opt for a pay-per-use, on a quarterly, half-yearly or annual package. With an average range of 220km per charge, drivers do not need to worry about charging as EVCo has partnered with P.UP, Singapore’s first on-demand mobile EV charging service, to charge and clean each vehicle overnight so that it is ready for work the next morning.

60% of the first batch of 550 vehicles have already been subscribed by local SMEs, including 100 vans that will be added to P.UP’s mobile charging fleet. Last-mile logistics operator SOS LOGISTIC has also committed to make 100 electric vans available for its drivers, as part of the initiative.

This is a first step in EVCo’s ambition to ensure EV adoption, and the operational and environmental benefits that come with this adoption, are accessible to every business, especially SMEs.
